New This Week: Thankfulness
In the spirit of the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, we extend our heartfelt THANKS for being part of this community and for being a reason global water works! 👍 🦃 💦
GWW SPOTLIGHT: Tim Keane is an expert on in-building sanitation focused on solving waterborne pathogen issues. He is a regular and valued contributor to the GWW community for his well-researched and clear guidance. Here, he weighs in on the discussion with Travis Loop and Seyi Fabode on the water quality reports utilities are required to send to their customers every year.
GET SMART ABOUT WATER: Make Black Friday Blue Friday by committing to get smart about water. You can start by following this idea from P&G, Kohler and Electrolux, advocating we cut water use from 500 to 50 liters to prevent the next Day Zero.
WATER CAUSES: Looking for a great cause that shares your heart for water this holiday season? Consider IWSH or DIGDEEP who are caring for the Navajo and about 2 million people who don’t have water here in the U.S. You can see the work of both in this Keynote by Emma Robbins at MIT’s Water Summit. We recommend WaterAid and WaterMissioninternationally.
WATER TECHNOLOGY: If you missed BlueTechWeek, you can still register to reap the benefits of their amazing Whova app, linking more than 750 water experts around the globe. You can also gain a glimpse of the water clusters and innovations coming out of the blue (ocean) tech and water (utility) tech sectors, including special presentations by @Gary Wong, @Rick Bacon, @Alan Pyle, @Nick Harris and @Ramzi Bouzerda.
GWW GROUPS:
Groups within the Global Water Works Community are the important strength of the community. We have 25 groups covering 25 different intiatives all around water, spanning water efficiency to atmospheric water, including SWAN’s Digital Twin Group and the Water Tower Global Innovation Hub. Because we are a community you will get much more out of Global Water Works with your active participation in a focused group. Tap the wisdom of the crowd within the GWW Groups… Once your profile is complete, review the groups and join one that delves into your interest. You could even suggest a sub-topic for the group and moderate that topic!
In the coming weeks you will hear a lot more about the Global Water Works Groups. Let us know what you think. Your ideas, commments and criticisms are very welcome!!
GIVING THANKS: On the occasion of U.S. Thanksgiving, we want to acknowledge the community would not be where it is today were it not for your shared passion and commitment of time. Thank you all for your time and a special thanks to all who contribute regularly to GlobalWaterWork, including:
- Our expert Hosts, who lend knowledge, research and facilitate our groups or collaboration sessions
- Ambassadors who spread the word and our reach
- Our #WaterTech Showcase participants, who are leading the transformation of the water sector (some of whom are also underwriting GlobalWaterWorks):
- Our collaboration partners: TMA BlueTech, The Water Tower, Water & Waste Management, Smart Water Networks Forum (SWAN) and One Water Academy.
- THANK YOU!
We wish you all a blessed time with family and friends – via Zoom if needed.
